Ounce of Prevention is an organization that provides breast cancer awareness, fundraising and events.  Co-chaired by Jennifer Houin and Jessica Oliver, Ounce of Prevention's success and future depends on the events they sponsor and the many volunteers that help to bring everything together.

How it started:

Jennifer Oliver Houin and Jessica Oliver were introduced personally to breast cancer when they lost not one, but two grandmothers to the disease, then had to face its ravages with their brother John's wife, Michelle Oliver, at the young age of 32.  Needless to say, this dreaded disease had become very real to them.  Frustrated, they wondered what they could do to help others facing or supporting someone with breast cancer in their community.

Early 2003, they decided to fight back and established "Ounce of Prevention".  It is a not-for-profit organization created to improve awareness of breast cancer and to raise funds to offer support to those fighting the disease in Marshall County, Indiana.  Their goal is to have the money raised, make a difference right in their home-town, for people they may pass on the street or at the grocery store.  But....they didn't want this help to be restricted by age, economic or belief status.....this is just how this wonderful fund started!

Eight years later, Ounce of Prevention Fund has raised upwards of $200,000.  Plus added many different fundraisers along their awesome journey.
